２月２４日（水）、ＥＣＣ（英会話クラス）にてスピーチコンテストが行われました。

ECC (English Conversation Class)とは、中学１年生から３年生対象の英会話クラスのことです。週１回放課後に、ネイティブの教員が１クラス（約１０名）に一人つき、オールイングリッシュで授業を進めていきます。年度の最後には１年間の成果を披露するために、英語による発表を行っています。中学１年生はスキット、中学２年生と３年生はスピーチです。

中学３年生の上位に入賞した生徒のスピーチ３つご紹介します。

〈U.D.さんのスピーチ〉
Hi!  My name is U.D.  Today I’m going to talk about my favorite things.  Please listen. 
　First I’ll talk about my favorite song.  This song is called “七色キャンドル” which means “seven colored candles” in English.  I think it’s a very moving song.  I like this song because the lyrics are wonderful.  It makes me happy when I’m tired.  It’s sung by Flower.  There are six members.  Their voice and dance are very nice.  You should listen to their music.
Next, I’ll talk about the summer festival in Japan.  Have you ever been there?  There are many food stands.  They sell shaved ice, cotton candy and yakisoba.  They are incredibly delicious.  I especially like cotton candy.  The fireworks festival is loved by many people so it’s very crowded.  Most people say, “Tamaya” when the fireworks go up in the night sky.  This picture is of the fireworks.  It’s very beautiful.  How about going to a fireworks festival?

〈M.K.さんのスピーチ〉
Hello, everyone!  My name is M.K.  Today, I’m going to talk about my favorite song and my favorite artist.  My favorite song is “What makes you beautiful” sung by One Direction.  This song always makes me happy by its great sound.  Do you know One Direction?  I think you have listened to their songs because some of them are used as commercial songs.  The members are all vocalists who passed a TV audition.  So each of them has an amazing voice.  They made their debut in 2010.  After that, they rapidly became famous all over the world.  I’ve known them for three years and even went to a concert of theirs which was held in Japan.  Then, I got their autographs!!  Actually, today I brought it!  This is my treasure.  If you are interested in One Direction, please check them out!  I hope you will like them.  Thank you for listening.

〈A.O.さんのスピーチ〉
Hi!  My name is A.O.  Today, I’d like to talk about my English.  When I was in elementary school, I really didn’t like English.  Now I love English.  Do you want to know what changed my mind? 
First, I’d like to talk about why I didn’t like English.  When I was seven years old I lived in China.  English class went too quickly for me.  It was difficult for me to understand because I was a beginner and I had never studied English before.  My Chinese English teacher tried to improve my English.  I tried hard but my basic English was very bad.  After that, I entered junior high school.  At first, my first impression of English was bad but I joined many English events at school.  For example “TESS”.  This is a picture of TESS.  It was my first time to join a drama in English.  I really enjoyed it.  I had a very nice experience.  Also in the English class, our teacher made class very interesting and taught very well.  So it made me want to try my best.  I want to say thank you to my teachers for helping me to love English and now I can speak some English in daily life with my friends.  In the future, I want to speak English very fluently and make friends with foreign people.  Thank you for listening.

（小学生のころは英語が好きではなかったのですが、今は英語が大好きです。中国に住んいたころ英語の基礎がなかったこともあって、英語が好きではありませんでした。中学に入学してからいろいろな英語の行事に参加しました。その中のTESS（英語集中合宿）では英語劇に挑戦しました。楽しく、よい経験になりました。英語の授業では、楽しく教えようと先生が頑張ってくれました。英語を好きにさせてくれた先生方に感謝しています。今では日常会話は話せるようになりました。将来はもっと英語が話せるようになり、外国の人と友達になりたいです。）
